Happy anniversary AMILO!
One of the MPE Spanish members, the Spanish Amyloidosis Association (AMILO), last month celebrated its fifth anniversary by recognising the support and help other organisations have given them during these five years. MPE is pleased and proud to receive this recognition from AMILO at such an important event for our member. Along with MPE, other important national and international organisations were awarded, like the Amyloidosis Alliance and the Spanish Society of Hematology, represented by its president, Dr. María Victoria Mateos.
During this event, AMILO advocated for better access to innovative treatments and more visibility for rare diseases like amyloidosis. The MPE Head of communications, Ana Vallejo, received this recognition on behalf of MPE and was virtually accompanied by the MPE president, Lise-Lott Eriksson, who said “It has been a pleasure seeing AMILO grow into the organisation it is now. AMILO has been an MPE member for four out of five years of its existence, and we hope our collaboration and work together continues for many more years. We are really grateful and pleased for the recognition AMILO is giving us today, but for us, this is a mutual acknowledgement of the things we can achieve together.”
AMILO also celebrated its annual Infoday with about four hours of talks and round tables that covered topics related to different types of amyloidosis. MPE was invited to actively participate in this meeting, with Ana Vallejo moderating the Infoday and presenting the preliminary results of the MPE AL amyloidosis research projects. Ana showed data generated through quantitative and qualitative research on early diagnosis of AL amyloidosis and some preliminary results on Quality of Life (QoL) focus groups and surveys on this disease.
