Myeloma and AL Amyloidosis

Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is a rare and incurable cancer of the bone marrow. Around 12-15% of patients with myeloma may develop symptomatic AL amyloidosis, a related and rare disease that occurs when abnormal plasma cells in the bone marrow produce misfolded light chain proteins (“amyloid protein”).
