It is with great sadness that we share that our friend, colleague and Board member Lisa Kotschi passed away in the night of the 21st November 2019.

Myeloma Patients Europe (MPE) loses a friend who was also a board member since April 2018. Lisa was a very special, helpful person and a passionate advocate. After her husband passed away from myeloma, she decided to continue his work supporting patients by creating a new internet-based organisation in Germany, AMM Online. This organisation works exclusively as a network community with almost a thousand patients and family members registered.

She never rested from trying to improve diagnosis, access and quality of life for myeloma patients in Germany and also in Europe, sure about the benefit national and European patient organisations give. “I am convinced we need strong local patient organisations and a strong European myeloma organisation to strengthen both through better communication. All patients should get the best available treatment wherever they live until the day they can be completely cured”, Lisa stated.

We owe Lisa a lot, not only for all that she has done for MPE and for German myeloma patients, but also for being a friend and a great advocate. We will miss her very much, and we wish her family all the strength and wisdom they need in these difficult times.
